Lighthouse Notes

Standing on the point where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, the Cape Henry Lighthouse is the oldest on the Bay. Built in 1792, the sandstone tower started to show cracks in the walls in 1870. The decision was made to build a new lighthouse out of cast-iron 100 yards away. Today, both lighthouse towers stand side by side.
