Lighthouse Notes
In 1882, the Lighthouse Board decided to reposition an existing lighthouse to the outer side of the Sandy Point shoal. The 51-foot tower, housing lamp, foghorn and keeper's quartes, on a caisson base, still stands to this day, its fog horn souncs every 30 seconds, while its white light beams every 6 seconds. The lighthouse was automated in 1963.
