Lighthouse Notes
This 42-foot high round screw pile lighthouse, stood at the mouth of the Patapsco River and was built in 1855. The lighthouse was automated in 1948. in the late 1980's the Lighthouse was transported to to Pier 6, Baltimore Harbor, and an electric beacon took its place. Now open to the public, the lighthouse is used to educate and serve as a reminder of the lonely and dangerous history of navigating the Chesapeake Bay.
